That region is considered one of the best areas for growing bananas in the world. The exquisite soil of this area is optimal and unique chemical composition for most efficient banana production. El Guabo area is distinguished by a humid tropical climate with temperatures fluctuating between 18.5 and 35.5 degrees Celsius, which is an ideal conditions for banana cultivation. There are numerous small and big rivers crossing the area coming from the Cordilleras of Andes to Pacific, thus we never face the problem of lack of water for irrigation. All these advantages allow to produce in that area average 45 boxes of bananas per week from any hectare of plantations. Notice that 30 boxes per week is the average rate all over Ecuador.

The last, but not least, advantage is the proximity of the area to the Puerto Bolivar terminals. We need maximum 40 minutes to get to the port from most distant of our plantations.

It makes no sense to specify the weekly volume of AGRIPALMA own production and extension of cultivated areas because these figures are quite variable being increased every month.

We consider the development of our own production a fundamental purpose. Our aim is to be able to load a whole vessel with AGRIPALMA's own production, and in reality we are not very far to reach that mark.

AGRIPALMA is a company that is very conscious of the importance of each stage of the production process. In the banana cultivation, where the natural resources are taken advantage of the fullest potential, it is fundamental for companies such AGRIPALMA to be ecologically conscious and give back to nature the favors it has given to us. With this, we have restored the ecological process of banana production and are very close to receive the Ecological Stamp that will guarantee the ecological superiority of our product.This process was initiated four years ago, and since then we have obtained excellent results using only organic fertilizers in approximately 500 hectares of our plantations. These organic fertilizers are produced in our plant on a base of fruits waist, the “raquis” of the banana tree cluster, as well as a mixture of rich remainders in nutrients, such as cattle excrement, sawdust and coffee. This material decomposes faster adding a group of concentrated bacteria to the soil, which accelerates the decomposition of the green matter and the rest of the used elements. The function of this fertilizer is to assure an excellent final product by keeping the plant well nourished.
